Green Minecraft Milk Includes A Food Dye That US Government Is Trying To Get Rid Of

A Minecraft Movie is doing big business in theaters, and now you can drink Minecraft milk, if that’s something that sounds appealing to you. But be warned–the new milk includes a food dye that the US government is planning to phase out soon.

TruMoo has announced limited-edition Minecraft Vanilla Green milk AKA “Creeper Milk,” along with Minecraft Chocolate milk. They’re both now in stores in the US through June 30.

The Minecraft Vanilla Green milk uses Blue 1, a food dye that the US government plans to phase out by the end of 2026. This could make the Minecraft milk something of a collector’s item, except everyone knows milk does not age well. Not everyone agrees about food dyes and their health risks.

In semi-related news, the FDA said in an internal email obtained by Reuters that it had paused its “proficiency testing program” for milk and dairy products at the federal level. However, experts say milk producers will work with state agencies in the interim to retain their certification status.

Thirsty?

International Dairy Foods Association boss Matt Herrick told The Washington Post that the FDA’s announcement this week is “not a suspension of milk testing,” adding that dairy facilities and milk are still regularly tested by regulatory authorities, as has been the case for the past 100+ years. Experts say consumers have no cause for alarm or concern regarding the FDA’s recent announcements.

In other Minecraft news, A Minecraft Movie is now in theaters and is doing big business. It’s made $727 million worldwide so far, ranking as the No. 2 highest-grossing video game movie of all time.
