As part of Ubisoft’s latest earnings report, the company announced that it’s delaying multiple upcoming games. Ubisoft did not say what these games are, but noted that they are “some of our biggest productions.”
Ubisoft said it’s delaying these unspecified games to “create the best conditions for success.” It opted to delay the games “after a review of our pipeline.”
As a result of these delays, Ubisoft said FY 2026-2027 (April 1, 2026-March 31, 2027) and FY 2027-2028 (April 1, 2027-March 31, 2028) will “see significant content coming from our largest brands.”
Ubisoft has numerous upcoming big games in development, including multiple more Assassin’s Creed games and reportedly Far Cry 7.
Ubisoft delayed these projects as part of its announcement of a challenging fiscal year 2025 in which Ubisoft saw all revenue and profit categories slide year-over-year. The company also recently announced a significant restructuring backed by Tencent that focuses on Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.
It’s been a tumultuous past year for Ubisoft even prior to this, as the company’s cost-cutting efforts have included mass layoffs and studio closures, as well as the shutdown of XDefiant.
In its earnings briefing, Ubisoft said it’s laid off about 3,000 people since September 2022 as part of its ongoing cost-reduction program. Looking ahead, Ubisoft said it plans to cut even more, with €100 million more in cost-reduction efforts over the next two years.
Ubisoft did not disclose any sales numbers for Assassin’s Creed Shadows but said the company overall achieved “solid activity and engagement metrics” for console and PC. Playtime and session days were “broadly stable,” with the Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six brands reaching about 30 million active players for the fourth straight year. Far Cry was a big success, reaching about 20 million players.
