Locke & Key Keyhouse Comic Compendium Gets Massive Limited-Time Discount

Joe Hill has had quite the prolific writing career across comics and fiction. Despite working in the same genre as his legendary father Stephen King, Hill has established himself as one of the best modern horror writers. Though he’s responsible for a handful of top-notch horror novels and short story collections, his best-known work is probably still Locke & Key. Written by Hill and illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke & Key debuted in 2008, just one year after Hill’s critically acclaimed debut novel Heart-Shaped Box. Locke & Key became a huge success over its 37-issue run before being adapted into a Netflix original series in 2020. Fans of the show interested in reading the (better) source material can take advantage of a fantastic limited-time deal at Amazon.

Locke & Key: Keyhouse Compendium is on sale for $75.90 (was $125). The hardcover compendium compiles all six volumes into one beautiful hardcover book. This is one of the better prices we’ve seen for this massive collection. At the time of writing, over 40% of copies have been claimed.

The Keyhouse Compendium is arguably the best (and cheapest) ways to enjoy the original comics, but the tale is also available in several other formats. The Locke & Key Slipcase Set gets you all six softcover volumes plus a fancy slipcase for storage, though it’s currently $97.93 (normally $100). The story is also offered as a trio of Locke & Key Master Edition books. Each hardcover spans over 300 pages and includes two volumes of the original story–get all three books, and you’ll have all six volumes. They’re more expensive than the Keyhouse Compendium, but they no doubt look spectacular. Two of the Master Editions also happen to be on sale, but Volume 2 is frequently unavailable outside of preowned copies.

Another way to dive deeper into the Locke & Key universe is with Heaven and Earth. The deluxe hardcover is just 72 pages long, but it includes three one-shot stories that are difficult to find on their own–including Open the Moon, Grindhouse, and In the Can. A few bonus goodies are bundled in for good measure, such as extra covers, exclusive photos, and more.

Locke & Key might be the most famous Joe Hill comic, but it’s far from his only creation. If you’re looking to pick up a bunch in one swoop, check out the Joe Hill: Graphic Novel Collection. The hardcover volume includes The Cape, The Cape: 1969, Thumbprint, Kodiak, and Wraith. Offered in full color and spanning nearly 500 pages, this cheap paperback includes comics based on Hill’s short stories.

The Hill House Comics, meanwhile, is a curated collection of five stories featuring a variety of horror authors. From a haunted dollhouse to a forest inhabited by strange animals, there are plenty of spooky stories to unravel. It’s down to just $43 (was $100), which is the lowest price we’ve ever seen.

Interested in checking out some of Joe Hill’s work beyond comics? The author has five novels under his belt, including the popular Heart-Shaped Box and NOS4A2. The former follows a collector who just purchased a suit seemingly haunted by its old owner’s spirit, while the latter is a chilling tale of a child who escapes from a supernatural being, only to be hunted down later in life. NOS4A2 was adapted into an AMC series starring Zachary Quinto. Another one of Hill’s novels, Horns, was adapted into a feature film with Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) in the lead role.

Hill’s fifth novel, King Sorrow, is slated to release October 21. It follows a group of friends who mess around with occult secrets and wind up summoning a terrible demonic force (whoops). Like his father, Hill has written some very long books, and King Sorrow is no different at 896 pages.

While you wait for King Sorrow, you could read the 20th Anniversary Edition of 20th Century Ghosts, Hill’s debut short story collection. It’s up for preorder for $20 and looks stunning.
