While pretty much all the Fortnite buzz at the moment revolves around Battle Royale’s new superhero season, starring Superman and Robin, today also marks the start of Season 4 of Fortnite OG. The original Season 4, which was Fortnite’s summer season back in 2018, was a momentous one, as it marked the beginning of Fortnite’s ongoing story. More relevant to this particular article, however, is that it added a couple items to Fortnite’s loot pool that have become battle royale staples.
Back in that early era, Fortnite didn’t usually change the meta much between seasons. The standard Fortnite Assault Rifle, for example, stayed in Battle Royale from the very first day the mode was released in 2017 until the end of Chapter 2 more than four years later. Big, overall shakeups to the meta–like Star Wars season replacing the entire pool of Fortnite weapons in favor of Star Wars blasters and lightsabers–just didn’t happen back then. So if the list of new items in the Fortnite OG Season 4 loot pool seems relatively small, that’s why.
