Konami has announced that it’ll be holding its own summer showcase, Konami Direct, and this will kick off on June 12 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube, and it’ll provide new information on upcoming games like Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Silent Hill F. Konami says that other titles will also be included in the stream, and it’s currently planned to run for 37 minutes.
The last couple of years have seen Konami bounce back into the spotlight following several relatively quiet years. Recently, Konami has published compilations of classic Metal Gear Solid games, the critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Studio, and Suikoden remasters, with big projects planned for 2025 and beyond.
These include the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater–scheduled to release on August 28–and a brand-new Silent Hill game that shifts the survival-horror from a sleepy US town to rural Japan when it arrives in September. Beyond that, Konami could surprise viewers if it decides to maintain its current momentum.
A new Castlevania game has been on the wishlists of fans for many years now–there hasn’t been a new game on home console since 2014’s Lords of Shadow 2–while a release date for Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 has remained as elusive as Solid Snake. Fans of the series have also long been petitioning Konami to re-release Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on modern systems.
Konami’s showcase comes right after a very busy week for gaming news. In addition to Summer Game Fest, Xbox and PlayStation have held dedicated conferences, while other events like Future Games Show, Day of the Devs, and Wholesome Direct have also been held, covering a wide number of upcoming releases.
