Lego has revealed the new sets that will be getting an official release in the future, all thanks to fan designers who took part in its Ideas line. The new additions include everyone’s favorite FBI agents from The X-Files–and one memorable Simpsons episode featuring a stolen whale subplot–alongside Wallace & Gromit.
These two sets were chosen from the submissions sent to the Lego Ideas “Build Your Nostalgia: ’90s Throwback” competition, which challenged designers to bring that wild decade to life with their custom creations. We’re ignoring the fact that the first Wallace & Gromit short was televised in 1989, because there were two shorts produced in the ’90s. The X-Files is as quintessentially ’90s as ripped jeans and grunge music, and both sets will also join a scale-replica of Godzilla at a future date.
The X-Files set was designed by WetWired, and it features FBI agents Mulder and Scully in a forest diorama, complete with a UFO spaceship, an alien, and even a replica of Mulder’s iconic office. The truth is up there! A few more minifigures are included here, like FBI assistant director Skinner, the Jersey Devil, and Eugene Tooms from those episodes that gave us nightmares.
Meanwhile, the Wallace & Gromit submission by Pidelium uses the bricks to recreate a scale-model of the iconic British inventor and his trusty canine. This is based on the 1995 short “A Close Shave” and it features the duo, their motorcycle, and equipment used in their window-cleaning business. No cheese, though.
One thing to note is that there likely will be some changes between the fan designs and the final products, and it’ll likely be a while before they’re released to the public. If you’ve got some cash burning a hole in your pocket for some Lego fun, you can grab some other sets that were recently released, like this adorable replica of Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon or several Donkey Kong sets which are back in stock at Amazon.
