For many players, preordering a Nintendo Switch 2 was a nightmare. Nintendo tried to meet the demand, but sellouts have been frequent and not everyone who ordered a Switch 2 early got it on day one. Now, Target has sent out emails to its customers apologizing for the late delivery of their new consoles. To make it up to them, Target is offering a $50 Nintendo eShop card for free.
Target’s giveaway is not a direct eShop code, and players will have to login to Target’s official site to claim it. The steps to redeem it are reproduced below:

There is always a danger of scammers using Target’s offer as an opportunity to deceive players into making their system vulnerable to phishing attempts. So always be sure to check the address of the incoming email to make sure that it came from the official Target account. Just to be safe, players can also copy the redemption code from the email and use it at Target.com without ever clicking a link in the email.
Target could have sent out Target gift cards, which would have brought those funds right back into its own store. Instead, Nintendo and its players will be the beneficiaries of this giveaway. Target may have even earned some consumer loyalty for that gesture.
Nintendo Switch 2 consoles were restocked earlier this week, and promptly sold out again. It may take some time before customers are able to easily buy a Switch 2 without dealing with the rush. The next big Switch 2 game on the horizon is Donkey Kong Bananza, which is arriving on July 17. Ahead of the release, Nintendo’s older Donkey Kong games have gone on sale.
