It’s almost the first weekend in July, and as has now become tradition, this marks the start of another week-long speedrunning marathon in the form of Summer Games Done Quick. There are plenty of exciting runs on the table, all in the name of charity, so here’s how to watch it, and some highlights we’ve found in the schedule.
How to watch Summer Games Done Quick 2025
SGDQ, which is livestreamed 24 hours a day on the GDQ Twitch channel, will be hosted in Minneapolis. While you can watch live at any point through the marathon, the GDQ Youtube channel will regularly upload each run shortly after its completion, for any that you might miss.
Summer Games Done Quick will start on July 6 at 8:30AM PT / 11:30AM CT / 12:30PM ET, and kicks off with the pre-show, which introduces the event, its goals, and highlights prizes and incentives for viewers.
The week-long event showcases high-level gameplay across a variety of genres, with the speedrunning goal of doing everything really, really fast being the focus throughout each run. The biannual event raises money for Doctors Without Borders, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières, or MSF. To date, GDQ has raised more than $50 million for MSF and the Prevent Cancer Foundation, which is the beneficiary of its fundraising efforts from the winter edition of its speedrunning marathon, Awesome Games Done Quick.
Summer Games Done Quick schedule highlights
SGDQ 2025 runs continuously from July 6-13, with a packed-out schedule of speedruns taking place consecutively with a short break in between. There’s a mix of in-person and remote runs, and familiar “blocks” of games, including the horror block, silly games block, and Mario block all making a return.
The full schedule is available on the Games Done Quick website, but we’ve listed a few runs we’re particularly looking forward to alongside their start date and time. Note that these times are subject to change, and probably will alter slightly depending on delays and longer runs than estimated, but the GDQ website will have them constantly updated. It also lists times in your timezone, so you don’t need to start calculating time differences.
For the first time in recent history, GDQ appears to have allowed the inclusion of recently released games. These “mystery games” were revealed recently. Previously, GDQ insisted upon games released at least a specific number of months prior to run submissions opening, meaning that especially new games were not eligible for inclusion. Since Mario Kart World appears as one of these mystery games, it appears the submission eligibility criteria has changed for the better.

While these are some of the runs we’re most excited to catch, it’s important to note that some games are known as bonus games. This means that the audience must meet a donation incentive before the game will feature on the schedule. If the community doesn’t donate enough to meet that incentive, the game will not feature.
