Tolkien Illustrated Special Editions Are Up To $140 Off For Prime Day, Selling Out Fast

The beautiful Deluxe Special Editions of The Hobbit and The Silmarillion–with illustrations by J.R.R. Tolkien–are on sale for incredible discounts for Amazon Prime Day 2025. Normally $195 each, Lord of the Rings fans can get The Hobbit: Tolkien Illustrated Special Edition for $77.57 and The Silmarillion for $55.34. These deals are only for Amazon Prime members and are available in limited quantities. More than 50% of copies of The Hobbit had been claimed at the time of writing, so this deal is unlikely to last for the rest of the day (July 8), let alone through the duration of Amazon’s big sales event.

The standard hardcover version of The Lord of the Rings: Tolkien Illustrated Edition is also an official Prime Day deal. You can snag a copy of this $90 book for only $38. You can take a look at these collectible editions of Tolkien’s classic fantasy novels below. There’s also a list at the bottom of this article with more beautiful editions of Tolkien’s work, including last year’s budget-friendly Collector’s Editions of The Silmarillion and The Hobbit for $12 each.

J.R.R. Tolkien Collector’s & Deluxe Edition Book Deals at Amazon

Some of the books in the list below are eligible for Amazon’s B2G1 Free Book Sale this week. Note: Amazon often swaps out eligible titles for new ones throughout the week, so it’s worth circling back each day to see if a book you were eyeing is eligible.

If you’re interested in adding 4K Blu-ray editions of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies to your collection, the new Middle-earth 6-Film Collection that launched in March is on sale for only $100 (was $210). It includes 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and digital editions of the theatrical and extended cuts, which makes it the most comprehensive release of Peter Jackson’s adaptations thus far.
