Despite not having an official release date yet, work continues on the upcoming Street Fighter movie, with fans finally getting their first “look” at Guile–played by WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. It also gives fans an idea of how true to the world of Street Fighter they’re going with this time around.
The tease came via an Instagram story from comedian and actor Andrew Schulz, who plays Dan in the film. The image shows what appears to be Rhodes wearing Guile’s classic camo fatigues and sporting the USAF Major’s famously exaggerated blonde flat top. It’s not much, but you see the edge of him, with his shadow on the ground teasing the hair. It’s the first real visual nod to the iconic fighter, who was previously portrayed by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the 1994 Street Fighter film.
Known for his bright “Sonic Boom” attack and patriotic style, Guile has been a fan-favorite since debuting in Street Fighter II. His “Air Force Base” theme music is also an all-timer as far as fighting game music goes. Rhodes, a third-generation wrestler, is gradually building his Hollywood resume, most recently appearing in The Naked Gun reboot, where he had a comedic run-in with Liam Neeson’s character.
The new Street Fighter adaptation is stacking its cast with a mix of wrestling legends and rising film stars. WWE coworker and former WWE Champion Roman Reigns (Joe Anoa’i) is set to play the powerful villain Akuma, while Japanese wrestling veteran and former IWGP World Champion Hirooki Goto takes on the role of E. Honda. The ensemble cast also includes David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, 50 Cent as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, and Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim.
Originally scheduled for a March 2026 release, the film has been delayed indefinitely, with no official trailer or major promotional material released yet.
