Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Latest Teaser Might Make You Think It’s Switched Genres

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is out in a couple of months, but as of right now there’s plenty we don’t know about the game. However, it seems that later this week we’ll be learning … something new about the game. The uncertainty is due to a creepy post shared by the official Pokemon account, sharing that there’s a YouTube premiere coming at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 2 PM BST on August 21, this Thursday.

This post was paired with the caption, “Viewer discretion advised,” alongside an emoji of a camcorder, and a first-person perspective of someone clinging to a locked fence at nighttime. Pokemon is no stranger to unsettling lore or even trailers, but if this wasn’t on the official Pokemon X account, it would be a very believable teaser for a first-person horror game. We’ll just have to wait until Thursday to find out just what this new trailer will show off.

The Pokemon World Championships took place over the weekend, which also showed off a new mode that will be available in Pokemon Legends: Z-A: four-player battles. Pokemon Sun and Moon also featured a similar mode, but the big difference here is the fact that you can move freely throughout battles, and instruct your Pokemon to dodge attacks. It’s pretty easy to see that this is the biggest shake-up in the series’ combat in decades.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is due out October 16 on Nintendo Switch 2.
