Gears Of War: Reloaded Day-One Update Fixes Crashing Issues And Odd PC DualSense Bug

Before you start chainsawing Locusts, developer The Coalition has released a day-one update for Gears of War: Reloaded to address crashing problems across platforms and add quality-of-life improvements. In addition, the patch notes detail a fix for a weird bug where using a DualSense controller on PC would lead to low frame rates in the game.

This is a required patch, per the official Gears of War account on X. The Coalition states that “support for handheld devices is enhanced, allowing them to properly switch to mouse-and-keyboard UI mode when appropriate.” The remaster of the cover-based shooter is verified for Steam Deck, and it will be playable on the ROG Xbox Ally when it launches in October.

For almost 20 years, the Gears of War series has been a console exclusive on Xbox. But Gears of War: Reloaded brings the franchise featuring chainsaw guns and Locust enemies to PlayStation for the first time–PS5, to be specific. Funnily enough, Xbox and PlayStation are trading exclusives today: Gears of War: Reloaded hits PS5, while Helldivers 2 finally arrives on Xbox Series X|S. For his part, Gears of War co-creator Cliff Blezinski is “thrilled” about the series becoming available to more players.

Gears of War: Reloaded offers overhauled visuals and all of the DLC ever released for the original game, which came out on Xbox 360 in 2006. The remaster releases today on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass.
