It’s a glorious weekend coming up for college football fans, with the official first weekend of games on tap. To capitalize on the excitement, EA Sports is making College Football 26 free for everyone.
This actually begins today, August 28, to coincide with the slate of games scheduled for tonight. The free weekend ends on Sunday, August 31. EA said people can “try out all the new features, see the latest roster updates, and more.” The game is free on both platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Additionally, for this weekend only, EA is discounting College Football 26’s Deluxe edition from $100 to $75. This version of the game comes with a variety of extras, including Ultimate Team credits and more.
Also, EA Sports announced the results of its seasonal sim using College Football 26, with the system determining that Texas will win the national championship come January 2026. This is not a very bold prediction, as Texas is starting the season ranked No. 1, and along with Ohio State, is considered the betting favorite by many to win the title.
CFB 26 was the No. 1 best-selling game for July in the US and is the No. 3 overall best-selling game of 2025 so far in the US.
GameSpot’s CFB 26 review scored the game an 8/10, with reviewer Richard Wakeling writing, “The presentation is excellent, with a fantastic attention to detail that helps differentiate each team.”
