Ghost of Yotei will be out in October 2025, and like Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima, the sequel is shaping up to be a feast for the eyes. The screenshots below–all taken from the 4K version of the new trailer–also reveal some of the new weapons that Atsu can wield, the people she’ll meet on her journey, and the sinister Yotei Six that she’ll be hunting down during her quest for vengeance.
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut looked particularly good when it was released for PS5, but Ghost of Yotei has been built from the ground up for the console and its beefier brother. The recent trailer revealed even more of the sequel in action, and so far, it does look like a big step up from its predecessor. In the years since the first open-world game in this series was released, Sony has introduced a new console in the form of the PS5 and a mid-gen refresh with the PS5 Pro, raising the bar for sharper video game visuals.
It is worth noting that the release date trailer used a mix of gameplay and cinematics on an undefined platform, but the important to note here is that the art direction from Ghost of Tsushima appears to be more vibrant than ever in Ghost of Yotei. While there was a sense of realism in the first game, it was also enhanced by a tasteful use of color and elegant designs, bringing the world to life in stunning fashion.
Will Ghost of Yotei be responsible for your DualSense controller capture button getting worn out dramatically quickly? A glance at the screenshots below suggests that you might want to keep a spare controller near you, because there’s going to be a lot of digital tourism to look forward to.
