Of all the big games coming to Nintendo Switch 2, few are as exciting as Donkey Kong Bananza, as it’s the character’s first big 3D platformer outing since 1999’s Donkey Kong 64. While the game doesn’t release until July 17–more than a month after the Switch 2–preorders are already live and you can reserve your copy for $70 at multiple online retailers.
You’ll find all the preorder details below. We’ve also found some great deals for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD for Nintendo Switch (and playable on Switch 2 thanks to backward compatibility) if you need to catch up on Donkey Kong’s other adventures.
Donkey Kong Bananza Preorder Bonuses
There are currently no preorder bonuses for Donkey Kong Bananza. If anything is announced, including retailer exclusives, we’ll be sure to update this section.
$70 | Releases July 17
This is also the only version of the game currently up for grabs, and it’s unlikely we’ll see a premium or collectors edition announced ahead of the game’s July 17 release.
Donkey Kong Bananza is launching exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. The action-platformer sees him exploring the Underground World as he goes up against a mysterious group known as VoidCo. Beyond that, much is still under wraps. We do know, however, that vast portions of the game world are fully destructible. The reveal trailer showed DK punching and smashing his way through all sorts of terrain, reshaping the landscape in the process.
While DK Bananza is exclusive to Switch 2, current Switch owners can still enjoy old classics like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD. Both of these are currently seeing nice discounts ahead of Bananza’s launch–so if you haven’t yet played through the classic adventures, now is the time to dive in.
You could also consider checking out all the upcoming Switch 2 accessories. These run the gamut from Joy-Con and Charging Grips to carrying cases and wheels for Mario Kart World–which can be bundled into your console purchase to save $30. Nintendo Switch 2 is bound to be a hot commodity, so it’s a good idea to stay glued to our preorder guide to help you nab one before they sell out. If this launch is anything like that of PS5 and Xbox Series X, it could be a challenge to find one in stock.
Switch 2 Games Available for Preorder
While several games like Mario Kart World and the Switch 2 Editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Switch and Tears of the Kingdom will be available along with the Switch 2 on June 5, there are also plenty of games arriving in the weeks after launch like Donkey Kong Bananza, including Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV Switch 2 Edition, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World Switch 2 Edition–all of which are available to preorder.
Switch 2 Accessories
If you want something a bit more comfortable than Joy-Con 2, be sure to pick up the Switch 2 Pro Controller. Alternatively, you could invest in the Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip, which keeps your Joy-Con charged up for your next play session. We’d also recommend a carrying case–the Switch 2 isn’t cheap, and these offer a simple way to protect your investment.
