Now, your first thought when you see a game like Baldur’s Gate 3 might be that you’re not a fan of turn-based combat. After all, if you liked Hogwarts Legacy, going from fast-paced wand fights to slow, turn-based moves in every encounter could be jarring. However, if you can get past the shift to turn-based combat and really sink your teeth into Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll discover why it’s considered one of the best RPGs ever made.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is an epic tale of your character, who can either be a preset character or completely your design, trying to stop an alien force from taking over an entire continent’s minds. The game isn’t necessarily open world, as it features distinct zones that are a part of the different story acts, but the zones themselves are very large. Within these zones, you’ll be able to pick up new party members, who you can completely control, go on winding side quests that feel like their own mini-story, and explore the beautiful and dangerous landscapes that make up each one of the maps. Baldur’s Gate 3 also features cross-play and is fully co-op, so you can partake in the adventure with a friend or two.
