Real-World Farmer Weighs In On Mario Kart World Cow Accuracy

Mario Kart World players love the cow, but some weren’t as happy with its dirt-covered butt. Japanese players went to X to make their feelings on the matter abundantly clear.

“Dirty butt!!!!!!” one user posted on X in Japanese over a photo of Cow’s rear end, originally shared by IGN. Other users chimed in, some expressing disappointment at the “hate” the cow is receiving, but ultimately agreeing that the cow’s butt is indeed dirty.

“The strangest thing about this game is that the dirtiness of the cow’s butts has been recreated with incredible realism,” wrote Japanese rice farmer Renta in a post on X. They went on to add that cow’s butts are often covered with dirt, but that farmers battle to keep them clean by keeping the cows healthy and the floor spotless.

Mario Kart World’s cow has been one of the highlights of Nintendo’s flagship Nintendo Switch 2 racer. While the open world and track design have left some wanting more, seeing the cow’s butt get dirtier over the course of a race has become a shared memory across the web. It’s not unusual to find full 24 player races filled with nothing but cows.

While Mario Kart 8 boasted a huge roster of characters, including everyone from Animal Crossing’s villager to Baby Daisy, a character like cow has never been playable in a Mario Kart game before World. It’s also not the only surprising cosmetic design choice we’ve seen in Mario Kart World. Toad can be find driving a police car while roaming around in the free roam mode.
