Look, up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nope, it’s a batch of deals on Superman movies and TV series, arriving just in time for the Man of Steel’s return to the big screen this week. The new Superman movie looks like it’ll be a return to form for the DC icon following the more somber incarnation portrayed by Henry Cavill in the Snyderverse movies, and if you’re looking to celebrate by binging on some classic Superman media, then you can score some big deals right now on several Blu-rays and DVDs. These limited-time deals are part of Amazon’s Prime Day 2025 sale, which runs July 8-11. Be sure to take advantage of them while they’re still available.

Judging by the early footage we’ve seen so far of Gunn’s Superman, it looks like there have been two major influences on it: 1978’s Superman movie starring Christopher Reeve and the ’90s animated series. The original big screen Superman film got a 4K Blu-ray release not too long ago, and for Prime Day, it’s on sale for $15 (was $34). Still considered an all-time classic, the movie had groundbreaking special effects and a killer cast, as Reeve’s iconic performance was perfectly contrasted by the late Gene Hackman’s take on Lex Luthor, a genius businessman looking to make a killing in real estate.
The bonus materials are also a nice time capsule of content, as it includes vintage behind-the-scenes featurettes, audio commentary, and more.

Superman: The Animated Series is highly recommended, as it saw the team behind the award-winning Batman: The Animated Series put their own creative spin on the last son of Krypton, resulting in 54 episodes of action, intrigue, and new spins on the Superman mythos. The Blu-ray remaster looks stunning thanks to the high-quality animation from that era, and with quality storytelling at its core, this series raised the bar for the character.

While Superman would star in animated series like Justice League and Justice League: Unlimited, fans were in for a long wait for his next solo series, My Adventures with Superman. The new animated series followed Clark Kent during the early days of his superhero career, joined by his best friends Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen as they attempted to navigate life, their careers, and weekly monster attacks. The show primarily follows Clark as he learns to become Superman, and the first season is available on DVD.

Another interesting take on the character was seen in Superman and Lois, as this live-action series saw Superman take to the skies as a protector, a husband, and a father. Starring Tyler Hoechlin as the Man of Steel–he first took up the role in the Supergirl TV series–Superman and Lois ran for four seasons and recently concluded. The entire run has been collected on Blu-ray, and this is a pretty good price for some high-quality action and drama.

The best deal here would be the 80th anniversary collection of animated Superman movies, as you’re getting All-Star Superman, Public Enemies, Superman vs. the Elite, and more on Blu-ray.
